Why is Apple called "Apple"?

Why is Apple called "Apple"?

Earlier in Steve Jobs life he worked in an apple orchard and came to the belief that the apple was the perfect fruit. The apple came in the perfect package, delivered high nutrients, and did not damage easily. With this belief and the help of Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne, Apple Computer was found on April 1, 1976.
Apple Computer, Inc. was later incorporated on January 3, 1977 and as Apple began to move into more than just the computers was renamed to Apple Inc. on January 9, 2007.

Apple planning own search engine to trump Google?

Apple planning own search engine to trump Google? There perhaps isn't anything that a Google search cannot find, but all of us who have only been 'googling' for information and knowledge may soon be "appleing" for them.
The Daily Mail, in a report , referred to an Apple job advertisement posted earlier this month, calling for a professional to develop "a search platform supporting hundreds of millions of users".

Microsoft is making available to testers the first public preview of Windows 10 mobile, a version of the Windows 10 operating system ultimately designed to run on ARM-based Windows phones and ARM- and Intel-based small tablets and phablets.

Microsoft shows off a preview of Windows 10 for phones, though it's limited to a half dozen Lumia devices.

The preview bits for certain Windows phones are available for download by those who have signed up to be Windows Insider testers. The release of the Windows 10 mobile preview follows by just over a week the release of the first public preview of touch-first Office for Windows 10 desktop users

Hands On: Mattel and Google's New VR View-Master

Mattel is rekindling interest its classic View-Master toy brand by incorporating virtual reality.
The company today announced a collaboration with Google to make a new View-Master based on the Google Cardboard platform. It still uses those memorable picture discs with the squares around the edge like the old View-Master, but not in a way you might expect.

Watch Mortal Kombat X's Trailer Explain Faction Wars and More

NetherRealm developers discuss Mortal Kombat X's new features.

Developer NetherRealm has released a new trailer for Mortal Kombat X that explains the game's Faction Wars mode and other new features.
Faction Wars is an online, persistent metagame that every player with an internet connection will participate in. Each player will choose one out of five factions: White Lotus, Brotherhood of Shadow, Black Dragon, Special Forces, or Lin Kuei. Everything you do in the game, in single player or multiplayer modes, will contribute points to your faction. At the end of each week, the faction with the most point wins, and will earn special rewards.
The trailer also gives a quick look at the game's new dynamic towers, a series of challenges that will change on the hour, daily, or every few days.
We still don't know much about Mortal Kombat X's story mode, but if you liked what NetherRealm did with it in Mortal Kombat 9, it sounds like it won't disappoint. NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon said that the game's story will span 25 years, and director of art Steve Beran described it as a "blockbuster movie within the game itself."
GameSpot's Erick Tay and Peter Brown got to play these new Mortal Kombat X modes earlier this week. Check out the video below for their take.
Mortal Kombat X will be released this April for PS4Xbox OnePS3Xbox 360, and PC.

Next Year's Big Assassin's Creed Is Set In Victorian London [UPDATE]

Next year's Assassin's Creed game will take place in London during the 19th century, Kotakuhas learned thanks to an early leak. Farewell, Napoleon; hello, Jack the Ripper?3
This new entry in Ubisoft's annual open-world action series, slated for release in the fall of 2015, will take us through the dirty back alleys and rattling stagecoaches of London during the Victorian era, a historical period that fans have wanted to see in an Assassin's Creed game for quite some time now. This new Assassin's Creed game is called or code-named Victory—like Victorian!—and it will be out next year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, according to a person familiar with the game.

The Top 7 Assassin's Creed Games, Ranked Worst to Best

I’m a great big fan of the Assassin’s Creed games. I’ve spent the last year playing all of them in a row, and I feel like I am now uniquely qualified to tell you which games are “real good” and which games “ain’t so good.” Sit back, sip on some coffee or some of that sweet cane sugar classic Dew, and get ready for a completely objective and unarguably factual ranking of videogames that you cannot disagree with because I will disprove you with my facts.

Dear Google Glass, bye for now (and maybe forever)

Technically Incorrect: Google insists that Google Glass is moving onward and upward. But in withdrawing it from sale, isn't the company admitting that people really didn't want it?

Some revolutions fizzle.
They begin with declarations and fanfares. They end in being mere bunions on the world's foot.
This may well be the fate of Google Glass.
Yes, Google tried this week to make it seem as if it was onward and upward. Yes, Glass is going to be withdrawn from sale on Monday (people had been able to buy the "Explorer" edition of the high-tech specs for $1,500). Now, however, Nest's Tony Fadell will be in charge of the project , with a new version of Glass expected later this year.
